Dead Runnies have taken over my life! I sewed a bunch and then boom I had to take a break. When we got another order I was glad that I was already halfway there with the extras I had made the first go around; though now I need to update my etsy shop which means sew more! Oof!
It is good though, now we have them in two shops in Seattle. I went to drop off a batch at Railey’s and he ordered more, right then and there! Thankfully they were Zoink’s which currently TxK makes so I was off the hook for it. We also got some good feedback from the owner on Ziggy (Ziggy is what happens when a Dead Runny is unrecognizable as anything specific).
I also crocheted part of TxK’s Christmas present, which was supposed to be a birthday present but I completely forgot I said I would make. Oops, but really what is a few months anyway? I will not be posting pictures of that until later, cause TxK reads my blog and she keeps saying she should get it before Christmas, so I do not want to encourage that silliness.
I am SO behind on the baby quilt thing, I think I have three or four cold babies out there. I sort of took a break from crafting for much of the summer though. That happens. I need to stop sometimes and just do something else.
I took a lot of pictures. I did some family shots for my friend Prut which she is using for her engagement announcement, holiday card… and maybe something else. She has also asked me to shoot her wedding in May, which I told her I would do as long as it was not on my birthday.
I will post pictures after work, but for now I should get back to that… work.
I spent the week trying to make sure I could get the order finished and ended up making more than I needed. So now I have posted a few of them up in my etsy shop.
My large order of squeakers also arrived today which is excellent as I was running low on my supply. I really like how most of them turned out. I say most because one of the small ones is all wonky so I am probably just going to make it a magnet or something.
Today TxK and I registered domains and got a bunch of other administrative things done for Metropawlitan Mutt and the Dead Runnies taken care of. After work needing a break from work I drew up a quick image for a place holding page. Then I got to sewing. I finished 3 and nearly finished 3 more. Sewing, sewing, sewing...
I have been sewing like a mad woman. I have made dog vests galore, but what dogs want some more than clothes are toys. So I have made a handful. I am going to put them up in my etsy shop and bring them to I <3 Rummage on Sunday... that is if I can keep Umlaut from stealing them.
Here is my latest monkey finished...
I found these noses, I think it is supposed to be a dog nose and is upside down, but I think it looks better like that.
I think he came out well, though his head seems really tall...
I mailed out the first two purchases from Squirrels in the Attic today. Normally I plan on going on Saturday's but I had to mail some other stuff today so I figured I would just go and take care of it all.
yep exciting day.
Show us something you hold dear.

This is Tishya. She is a doll I have had longer than I can remember, I think she was named after my inability to say Patricia who is my cousin or tissue even when I was sick... anyway, I amazingly actually still have all the clothes that she came in. Her hair stands straight up because I took her everywhere, by her hair.
She is sitting next to a Grover doll that I have had just about as long. I think I got him when I was three. My parents independently took my sister and I to pick out Christmas gifts for each other and we both selected Grover (though we are not twins this was a common occurrence in my house). Grover is also my oldest memory, I remember Grover sitting in this little red chair on Christmas morning.
I finished up the sock monkeys that I started last weekend.
On the pink one I somehow managed to loose the lips, so I hat to chop off the top of his head and use that to make the mouth; sort of reminds me of transplanting toes to make fingers.
I think he looks a little goofy, but, well he is a sock monkey.
Now I just have to figure out what to do with them…
What does one do with a sock monkey anyway?
Today my niece Alex who just turned four came over to hang out while her dad cleaned my xbox green super dirty fish tank and changed out the filter.
Last time I saw her she asked if maybe I would help her make a pillow. I figured it would be more fun to make something a little more exciting than a pillow. I had some purple fabric from the remnant bin on a recent trip to joAnn’s that I thought would be perfect.
She helped me cut the fabric and stuff the sewed parts. I am going to wait for another
time to let her do any sewing machine work; for now she tends to be a little “short attention span theatre” so I figured stuffing multiple limbs was a good way for her to help on this one.
She discovered that under my sewing table is a great place to hang out and stuff limbs. The pattern was really basic since it came out of my head while I cut it.
Alex likes it which is what is important; I think it is cool to be the one who helped her make her first stuffed animal, especially since it is far cuter (even if in a homely way) than a build-a-bear.
