I took the week off from work with the intent of sewing all week, of course after the new XBOX360 release with netflix, I got sucked into Jericho... second season was a major dissapointment, the fact that I watched both seasons in a room where my sewing machine was not very productive, but the mind escape was good.
Then I got to sewing. I finished binding (which I have yet to learn to love) made a few dish clothes... and loaded them (well the quilts and a few of the dish clothes) up on my etsy shop.
I am even offering free shipping on quilts for the holidays!!
Show us something you've made recently.
Today I worked on a few pieces. I need to do the binding, but I do not love binding so I am sort of putting it off by getting a bunch of them ready for binding, then I can do them all at once. Eventually I will get some up on Etsy... I need to have a stack done before I do that though... getting closer.
Have I mentioned lately that I cut a LOT of triangles? No wonder it took so long to get that first quilt done, I probably spent a month cutting triangles alone.
Ah well. I am working on another small sized triangle quilt and am probably half done with the piecing.
I also picked up some super cute fabrics while out at Country Village the other day.
A few years back I started a triangle quilt. It was the second quilt I started when I got back into quilting as an adult.
I cut so many triangles it was unreal. I was not entirely sure how many triangles it would take, or how many fabrics I would want in it. So I cut and cut and cut. Some triangles were used in other quilts and for potholders, but I still have tons.
So I sewed up a little lap quilt... I still have a bunch more, guess I am going to be making a lot of triangle quilts.
I finally finished with the binding and backing that i meant to do a few weeks back but ended up sleeping instead. I have also been working on a commisioned baby quilt for a friends sister-in-law's new little girl.
She requested modern colors and style, I like combining classic fabrics and modern design, I am really happy with the way it turned out.
Now I should be sewing and updating my etsy shop and put some quilts up there.
If anyone is interested in a baby or lap quilt (make GREAT Holiday gifts) please let me know.
I am thinking I might use some vacation time and make a stock of them...
Over the last week or so, I have been pretty busy and have not had as much time to sew as I was the week before. I am working with the piles of triangles that I still have from the triangle quilt. It is a lot of sewing anf it never feels like anything gets done.
I also had a friend in town from LA and some other friends just moved up here from LA.
I did do a little fabric shopping. I also FINALLY bought some batting (28 Yards!!)
The other day I was at the pet store and I had a few bucks over on a store credit and figured I should just go through the sale rack and pick up a few toys for the dog shelter I volunteer at. I walked in there and there was this cranky little chinese crested mix. So I asked about her and they said she has some issues. I sent mail and stopped by there today and, well to get to the point, I took her home. Ever since Dozer got adopted to his forever home I have had it in the back of my mind that Umlaut still needs a buddy... so we are trying this one.
A few weeks back my boss had a baby boy. I have not worked for her all that long, but she is a really great boss so I wanted to make something for her. I do not really know what her style is so I thought that a nice gift might be a travel changing pad for the diaper bag... so that is what I made.
I also hung a light above my sewing table today, which I officially love. It isn't a fancy light, but I was going for function. After a little misshap with a stud in the ceiling... all is well.
Perhaps one day I will cut only enough fabric for a quilt top (outside of preset bits of fabric) but until that day comes I will continue to have bits left-over. Sometimes even enough for another quilt... I still have triangles from the triangle quilt... they haunt me... but I digress. I took the bits and sewed and cut and cut and sewed and then there it was. A lovely little blue lap, couch or baby quilt.
I still need to go batting shopping... I am not entirely looking for a weekend full of binding...
