Yesterday I had made plans to head out a little early so that I could pick up some things for an upcoming team party when I received an email from a co-worker and the daughter of a fellow voxer that said:
To: Quornflour
Subject: Kapow Coffee Shop in Seattle
Importance: Low
Hello!
Kapow coffee is selling those t-shirts (South Lake Union Trolley) and I am wondering if you live close to Harrison St?
I would love to get an xl for my mom – she has asked for one.
Thanks!
Now not having really paid much attention to the mail there was a back and forth about what exactly she was looking for. Turns out it was this shirt.
I looked at a map and thought I knew where it was… or so I thought. I got to where I thought it was and instead of Kapow there was some other coffee shop. I drove around a little until I was a little irritated, but just because I do not like not knowing where things are when I know I am SO close. When I finally found it, wouldn’t you know it: they were closed. Yep that is right. CLOSED.
So this morning since it is on my way to work I figured I would pop in for a quad-tall-light-ice-americano-with-walking-room and a few shirts.
The coffee shop nearly invisible, it is a former storage unit I think… or a one car garage. The coffee was good the guys were funny and the shirt purchase felt a little shady though legal at the same time. Really the whole experience made me want to live closer to south lake union than I already do… and I live close.
Show us something on fire.

Last year there was a huge fire on Eastlake (Lake Union, Seattle, Washington) after the 4th of July fireworks. It was pretty impressive, I took this from my apartment with my little point and shoot camera. They did a good job containing the fire as to avoid igniting the neighboring houseboats. The boats moored here have yet to be returned.
Today is my friend J9s birthday. Her husband is in a wedding so while he was doing photos and other wedding stuff she came over for lunch and to experiment with her new Cannon EOS. She needed a second battery and some cap keepers so we headed over to Glazer’s and picked them up.
While there I looked at the macro lenses and the wide-angle fish eye lenses. There is one I have been looking at on the Nikkor site, but last time I was at the store they did not have any.
Today they had one. Now they have none.
Yesterday I headed down to gasworks to take some pictures. The two specs of dust on my camera started making me bonkers so I walked home after snapping only a few pictures.
Today I headed down to Glazer’s and picked up a Rocket-Air
cleaner to banish the dust once and for all.
While there I also picked up a
quick release system for my tri-pod and a close-up lens set…
I will still get a macro lens eventually, but this will be a fun toy to try out until then.
At my birthday brunch Kympossible gave me these beautiful flowers; but then, after spending 3+ hours in the back seat of a hot car without water, I thought for sure I was going to have to ignore the fact that they ever existed. When I got home I promptly put them in water and look at them now.
Thank you Kympossible!
I would also like to add that her offspring have been entered the category of "pleasant children", congrats kids.
