Today I left work after lunch. I picked up some white thread and a new light bulb for my fish tank, not that it matters since you can hardly tell. I was good at the craft store; I stayed focused.
I got home at about 3 and decided to take a “short nap” which I awoke from 3 hours later.
After I putzed around my house for a bit, I sat down and started sewing.
You cannot tell in the pictures but there are 5 rows (one was on the other side of the balcony so the whole thing did not just slide off); the finished size is about 100”x95”.
I was going to work on a large blue one next, but then I got an email that my friend had her baby so I am going to make a little baby quilt first and then work on another large quilt.
I would stil be working on it, or even have the peicing finished if I had not run out of white thread... I have a whole drawer full of thread and not one single spool of white. What is up with that?
Seriously?
I guess it is a good thing that I have a half day at work tomorrow.
[My white balance is a little off in part because I cannot be bothered to grab my flash and the lighting is not great in here right now.]
Last week I went to visit Miss Ess in the land of crows.
It was very mellow. I went to a children’s poetry reading where I learned about dog fudge and that Saturday arrives in a cardboard box, Miss Ess’ youngest read a poem he wrote for his brother. I went to a Jr High Strings concert where her eldest played his cello. Mostly, I slept and went fabric shopping; I came home with a suitcase full of yardage.
Saturday TxK and her youngest picked me up at the airport. The airport is near IKEA so we stopped there for lunch and to see if we could find any goodies.
I found a few new plants and some meatballs. In the As-Is section I found a metal locker, that I thought would work well on my deck for things like my Dremel, Hilti and small pile of sanders.
When I got home I decided to see if I could use it to make more room in my craft area.
I put it in my room and moved all of my DVDs out of one of the cabinets in my craft area and then removed the doors from the cabinets storing the DVDs and moved the ever growing pile of fabric from on top of the shelves and loaded it and my newly acquired suitcase of yardage into my newly cleared shelves.
It has made a huge difference.
Granted I should vacuum, but either way the space is inspiring to me.
After I was finished with that, I started cutting and sewing a red and white quilt (inspired by a Denyse Schmidt quilt).
… and I wonder why I am so tired.
Technically I started this quilt about four, maybe even five years ago. I started cutting the triangles after finishing the blue and white quilt.
After cutting what still seems like an endless number of triangles I moved on to other quilts; often inspired by the already cut triangles.
I would pick it up and work on it for a while and then move on to another.
Today I have finished it. Granted I still have a ton of triangles left, but at least I finished this one.
I have even finished the binding; which I hate doing. I think this may become my new favorite.
Tomorrow is a Crafterday! Kelli is going to come over and we are going to be super crafty all day long. I am going to work on the triangle quilt since this week has been insanely busy and I have not had much time to work on it.
Admit it, you are jealous.
