I finally finished with the binding and backing that i meant to do a few weeks back but ended up sleeping instead. I have also been working on a commisioned baby quilt for a friends sister-in-law's new little girl.
She requested modern colors and style, I like combining classic fabrics and modern design, I am really happy with the way it turned out.
Now I should be sewing and updating my etsy shop and put some quilts up there.
If anyone is interested in a baby or lap quilt (make GREAT Holiday gifts) please let me know.
I am thinking I might use some vacation time and make a stock of them...
A few weeks back my boss had a baby boy. I have not worked for her all that long, but she is a really great boss so I wanted to make something for her. I do not really know what her style is so I thought that a nice gift might be a travel changing pad for the diaper bag... so that is what I made.
I also hung a light above my sewing table today, which I officially love. It isn't a fancy light, but I was going for function. After a little misshap with a stud in the ceiling... all is well.
I am finished with the baby quilt for my cousin and I am super happy with how it turned out. I almost want to make a king/queen size one for myself. If it was big I would probably try to come up with some excuse to keep it. I think it will be even better once it I washed since I did not preshrink any of the cotton; however, I am not going to wash it myself since it is going to a baby and you never know about skin sensitivities.
After fighting traffic I went to Whole foods, but discovered a pet store on my way so went in to see what their deal was… ended up in a conversation that resulted in the owner wanting some Dead Runnies samples. This should be good.
Whole foods had no candied walnuts which is why I went there in the first place. Things not so good.
Headed home… toilet overflowing. Things not so good.
Downstairs neighbor calls.
I answer: the toilet is overflowing, I need a third hand.
I’ll be right up.
Waterfall ended.
Could be worse.
Mail reveals etsy ordered Christmas gifts. Things good.
Mail reveals my delightfully delicious flamestitch bag. Things better.
I should make runnies. So I made chocolate chip cookies… mmmm
Then I sewed up and finished piecing the top piece of the baby quilt for my cousins baby.
Better.
Oh yeah forgot to mention that a friend of mine totally vanished from the address book at work. I was worried something happened, especially when she was not on-line and another friend knew nothing… a mystery. Still trying to come up with the best rumor because the truth is kinda dumb.
Dead Runnies have taken over my life! I sewed a bunch and then boom I had to take a break. When we got another order I was glad that I was already halfway there with the extras I had made the first go around; though now I need to update my etsy shop which means sew more! Oof!
It is good though, now we have them in two shops in Seattle. I went to drop off a batch at Railey’s and he ordered more, right then and there! Thankfully they were Zoink’s which currently TxK makes so I was off the hook for it. We also got some good feedback from the owner on Ziggy (Ziggy is what happens when a Dead Runny is unrecognizable as anything specific).
I also crocheted part of TxK’s Christmas present, which was supposed to be a birthday present but I completely forgot I said I would make. Oops, but really what is a few months anyway? I will not be posting pictures of that until later, cause TxK reads my blog and she keeps saying she should get it before Christmas, so I do not want to encourage that silliness.
I am SO behind on the baby quilt thing, I think I have three or four cold babies out there. I sort of took a break from crafting for much of the summer though. That happens. I need to stop sometimes and just do something else.
I took a lot of pictures. I did some family shots for my friend Prut which she is using for her engagement announcement, holiday card… and maybe something else. She has also asked me to shoot her wedding in May, which I told her I would do as long as it was not on my birthday.
I will post pictures after work, but for now I should get back to that… work.
My friend had her second baby last week, living across the street she figured she would go over at the last minute, well the last minute came and went and then there was a baby in the bathtub... or so the story goes.
So I am making a quilt. I would have made it sooner but since I was pretty sure it was going to be a boy, I did not know, I waited. I shouldn't have, it was a boy, in a bath tub.
I like this fabric, it is actually close (though not quite) this low light looking color, stays cleaner looking longer, I hope.
I have only made a bunch of squares so far, I think I will finish it tomorrow. First I need to watch Tori and Dean, because it is my new reality TV obsession. Yes, seriously.
Today was a Crafterday: NO work all craft and ideally a little exercise and definitely some lunch.
TxK came over and we
worked on our projects, well when I say we, really I mean mostly TxK. I was a super chatterbox. I did get some recent orders from the etsy
shop ready to be shipped out. TxK on the
other hand, she even finished not one but 2 projects for Squirrels in the
Attic!
She made a baby play mat/dog crate mat complete with pillow AND a set of pot holders; all I did was make a tiny bit of headway on my triangle quilt.
Next time I think KymPossible might join us too.
The day was lovely though and I did manage to get laundry done.
I used to live in a house with 5 roommates. Though there was some turnover I am still friends with a few of the folks I lived with back then. One of them JJ is having her first baby. I think this is actually the first baby from this particular group of friends.
With the invites her sister included a onsie for each of us to decorate. It was cool to see how different they each were, but appropriate to who JJ and her husband are. The above was mine.
(I have another friend that I stole the basic idea from – she made onsies for mutual friends’ baby.)
